About Fiddlers Green Country Store

Every great store has a story. Ours spans two decades, two continents, and one very determined woman.

In 2000, Kate Cole opened Fiddlers Green Antiques on Main Street in Gloucester, Virginia. It quickly became a beloved destination — especially for tourists — offering antiques, floral arranging accessories, and charming new collectables in a shop that was as warm and welcoming as the town itself. Business was wonderful, and the future looked bright.

Then in 2005, at the peak of its success, Kate made the bold decision to close the shop and move it to Kenwood, her property further down Main Street. As life sometimes does, it had other plans.

What followed was an unexpected and remarkable chapter. Living part-time in Tokyo, Kate enrolled in an Ikebana school, immersing herself in the art of Japanese flower arranging and culture. Over the next six years, she collected unique Japanese vases, containers, and accessories crafted by various Japanese artists — pieces that would become the cornerstone of what is now Fiddlers Green Country Store.

And the original merchandise? It never went anywhere. A treasure trove of antiques and collectables has been waiting patiently all these years — and now, at last, it's ready to find new homes.
